Overview
This guide will provide you with the ability to troubleshoot your Corporate Badge Reader and Buzzer installed in your Asset.
How does IntelliShift Badge Reader Work?
- Turning the asset on will turn the reader on, and 5 seconds after the Ignition turns on the driver will receive a Buzzing Noise
- The Buzzing will engage until the operator presents their badge to the reader. Upon a successful presentation the buzzer will deactivate.
- Upon the Asset's Ignition going off the asset will start a 5 minute timer.
- If the ignition is turned on before the 5 minute timer is expired the operator will NOT need to present their Badge to the reader and the Buzzer will not reactivate.
- If the ignition is turned on after the 5 minute timer has expired the operator WILL need to present their Badge to the reader and the Buzzer will be reactivated upon the ignition being turned back on.
- If your ignition is off for longer then 10 minutes the reader will be powered down and the light will be turned off
- Upon turning your ignition back on the light will will turn back on.
What does Presenting your Badge on the Corporate Badge Reader Do?
- Upon Presenting your Badge to the Reader, your Badge's unique number will be sent to IntelliShift
- IntelliShift captures your badge number and looks to identify if that Badge Number swiped belongs to an active Operator within the Platform.
- If an operator is found, the Operator is unassigned from their previous vehicle(if applicable) and assigned to the new vehicle.
- If an operator was not found, an event is logged for the asset but no operator is assigned to the vehicle. Leaving the asset classified as unassigned or leaving the previous operator assigned to the vehicle.
What Is the Normal State of a Badge Reader?
- IntelliShift's Corporate Badge Reader has a light on the front of the reader which provides the operator with the ability to see the status of the reader as well as feedback when the operator presents their badge to the reader.
- Within 30 seconds of your asset's ignition turning on, the Badge Reader should represent with a red light. This light means that the reader is powered up and is ready for a badge to be swiped.
- When tapping your Badge on the Reader, the light on the Reader will transition to Green.
- Upon removing your Badge the Reader light will return to Red.

- You may need to communicate with the operator or security team to confirm the Operator's active Badge Number.
