IntelliShift VG800 + Temperature Sensor Installation Guide Follow

Installation of your new device should be performed by a 12V certified technician or mechanic familiar with automotive 12V systems.

Pro Tips:

Before you get started, make sure to associate the IMEI number with the vehicle number. This makes it easier to activate on the IntelliShift platform. 

Getting Started

Installation Tips for Paired Devices:

• These devices are also pre-assigned to specific vehicles by VIN number and cannot be installed in other vehicles.
• The assigned VIN number can be found on the sticker on the outside of the plastic bag, pictured here
• During initial installation, the vehicle should ideally be outside to ensure the best GPS signal. The devices may not report a location to the satellite if it is inside a garage or other structure.
• Watch this video to walkthrough a typical installation and read the step-by-step instructions below. Note that your vehicle and cables may vary slightly from the examples shown here.

OBD and JBUS cables/connectors

For vehicles with an OBDII style port (1996 or newer model years), our OBD connector is required for installation. The harness plugs directly into the vehicles OBDII port and into our device. The device can then be installed under dash as close to the windshield as possible.

For vehicles with a J-Bus style port we offer various types of plugs to suit your installation needs. The harness plugs directly into the vehicles J-Bus port and directly into our device. The device can then be installed under dash as close to the windshield as possible

Installing the 1-Wire Adapter

Make sure you have the correct 1-Wire adapter needed for installation.

On this end of the harness, please cut off the 4Pin connector.

Once the connector is cut off, locate the following wires on the VG-800 Harness;

• Blue (7)
• Yellow/Black (18)
• Gray (8)
• Black (6 GND)

The wires from the adapter should match the wires that are on the harness.  Please connect wire to wire, then crimp the connectors so everything is secure.

The connectors are also heat shrinkable.  Please apply some heat so the glue keeps the wires tight within the connector.

Now find your Temperature Probe that was provided for installation.

Install the provided Temperature Probe inside the desired unit.  We always suggest to place the probe next to the factory refer probe to provide accurate results.   

Once the probe is secured in place, run your wiring into the cab of the vehicle where the tracking device is mounted.

Once your probe wiring is at the tracking device, please find the 6Pin plug from the 1-Wire dongle and plug our temperature probe into that.

Now verify your Temperature Probe within IntelliShift to see the displayed Temp.  If it lines up with what the refer unit is displaying on the dash board, you can finish out the installation.
