Overview
As a fleet leader, you may be curious as to how your fleet performs in your industry.
IntelliShift's Benchmarking (Beta) feature aggregates anonymized data from across the IntelliShift customer base and allows you to compare your fleet's performance in key areas such as utilization, efficiency, and safety against similar industries. This feature helps you identify strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring you stay competitive, safe, and efficient.

Getting Started
To view the Benchmarking (Beta) feature, follow these steps:
- In the left-hand navigation, select the "Analytics" service module.
- In the top navigation, select "Benchmarking Beta."
Please note, in order to view benchmarking, you must have the "Benchmarking" Permissions toggle active in your user settings. Only Account Administrators and Administrators can change your permissions. To understand more about user permissions, please visit our help article here.
Benchmarking Metrics
IntelliShift's benchmarking feature compares metrics across fleet utilization, idle, G-Force events, and Speeding events. Click on a metric category to view information related to your company's performance against the benchmark.
The metric categories display the following information:
-
Utilization Metrics
- Average Miles Driven
- Total miles driven divided by the number of active assets
- Average Daily Number of Stops
- Total number of stops divided by the number of active assets
- Average Miles Driven
-
Idle Metrics
- Idle Time Percent
- Total idle hours divided by total engine hours shown as a percent
- Stop and Idle Compliance Percent
- Idle hours divided by total stop hours shown as a percent (Idle = engine running, not in motion and PTO not engaged; Stop time = stop duration greater than 5 minutes)
- Idle Time Percent
-
G-Force Events
- G-Force Events
- Number of harsh braking events per 100 miles driven
- Harsh Turning Events
- Number of harsh turning events per 100 miles driven
- Rapid Acceleration Events
- Number of rapid acceleration events per 100 miles driven
- G-Force Events
-
Speeding Events
- Speeding Events
- Number of speeding events per 100 miles driven (A speeding "event" for Benchmarking is considered when an asset is 10 MPH over the posted speed limit.)
- Speeding Duration
- Percent of time spent driving 10 MPH over the posted speed limit divided by the total drive hours (Drive Hours = Engine on and more than 5 miles driven)
- Speeding Events
Filter your metrics to find specific information by branch or date. To open the filter options, select "Filters" in the top right-hand corner.
Understanding Your Metrics
When selecting a benchmarking category, three data blocks and a graph will display per metric. These data blocks offer key performance insights.
The Stat Blocks display the following information:
-
Company
- Average company results over the period shown on the graph
-
Benchmark
- Average benchmark (industry average) for the time period shown on the graph
-
Variance
- The difference between your company's performance and the benchmark
- A positive number variance (e.g., "5") indicates your company is higher than the benchmark.
- A "-" symbol in front of your variance (e.g., "-5") indicates your company is lower than the benchmark. This benchmark will allow you to set realistic goals for improvement.
The x-axis displays time, while the y-axis displays the specific metric. Bars on the graph reflect your company's performance, while the line displays the benchmark performance (industry average).
