Overview
API integrations allow different systems to seamlessly communicate and share data, automating processes and improving efficiency. By integrating with IntelliShift via API, you can connect your fleet management data with other business tools, eliminating manual data entry and ensuring real-time accuracy.
In this article, we’ll walk you through how to create an API User in the IntelliShift platform—an essential step in enabling secure data exchange between IntelliShift and your other systems.
Please note, you must be subscribed to "Connect API" in order to have this feature.

STEP ONE: Create Unique Email
Before we get started, please create a unique email address using your company domain. Ensure that it is accessible and can be actively monitored.
- Create a dedicated API user email rather than using a personal or standard user email for the API connection. Use a domain similar to this: PARTNERAPI@customerdomain.com.
- For example, if company "ABC Delivery" is integrating with Wise Systems, they might create an email like this: "WiseAPI@abcdelivery.com."
- Once the email is created and accessible, then proceed to the next steps.
STEP TWO: Create API User in IntelliShift
Watch the short video below to learn how to set up an API User in IntelliShift.
STEP THREE: Send Account Credentials and Instructions to Partner
Now that you've created the email and the API user account on IntelliShift, your partner team will need to know the IntelliShift account credentials. They need to conduct additional setup to send and receive information from IntelliShift.
- Download the instructions located here.
- Send this downloaded file with the IntelliShift API User account credentials (IntelliShift user email and password) to the partner account manager.
- Please note, it is not advised to send a username and password within the same email. Please speak with your partner organization for how they'd like to receive the credentials in order to keep your account secure.
Your partner should inform you once the API connection is ready.
