Within this section, we will be covering utilizing the eDVIR application from the driver's perspective. By the end of this training, the driver will be able to complete inspections, write up issues on the issue, identify when issues are resolved as well how issues are signed off that the issue has been resolved.
Downloading The eDVIR Application
SP eDVIR app is available on the Android and iOS app stores.

Requirements for SP eDVIR
- iOS 10.3 or Later
- Android 5.1 or Later
- Requires Cellular Connectivity
Signing into SP eDVIR
- Once SP eDVIR has been downloaded, launch the Application from the home screen of your device.
- On First Lunch, the operator will be required to enter in the DOT Number on the truck.
- From then on the DOT name will be stored within the device and will not require the driver to enter the DOT again.
- The driver will be brought to the Login screen. At the login screen, the driver will be required to enter their passcode.
- The driver will be brought to the SP eDVIR main screen.
Selecting an Asset
- Once logged into the SP eDVIR app and viewing the DVIR List Page the driver will click the Gear icon on the Top-right hand corner
- The operator will select the asset that they are beginning to operate.
- The Operator can scroll through the list and click the Asset they are operating
- The Operator can Type in an asset name to filter the list of assets.
- Once selected the operator will be brought back to the DVIR List Screen.
Viewing the DVIR List
- After selecting the asset the operator is operating the DVIR List will show the following Items for that Asset
- Completed Inspections for that Asset over the last 7 days
- All Outstanding DVIR's with issues identified on them, that have not been resolved.
- Fields within the DVIR List Screen
- Vehicle - The name of the asset
- Trailer - This will display the trailer details if a trailer has been selected.
- Inspection Type - It will display Pre-Trip or Post-Trip Inspection
- Time Stamp - This is the Date & Time of the completed Inspection
- Vehicle Status will display multiple statuses
- No Status - Represents that there are no issues on the DVIR
- Defects Need Correction - An issue had been found on the inspection, and there is no Mechanic Signature to verify that the issue has been corrected.
- Defects Corrected - There was an issue found with the vehicle and now the issue has been corrected and signed off by the Mechanic.
- Items with the Status of Defects Corrected(Not Highlighted in Green) need to be Verified by the Operator and signed off that the issue is corrected.
- Items with the Status of Defects Corrected(Highlighted in Green) have been fixed and the Validation signature has been applied to this DVIR
- Defect Age - How old the Defect Is represented in days. This will only display when the Vehicle Status represented with Defects Need Correction
Completing a Pre-Trip Inspection
- On the Top-Right of the SP eDVIR application click New DVIR
- The app will have defaulted the driver to the Pre-Trip Inspection
- The Top-Left of the page will contain the Asset that was selected.
- If the operator needs to add a trailer, the operator can type in the trailer number.
- The operator will inspect the truck
- if any issues are found the operator will select "Found the Following Issues"
- From there the operator will select the Item(s) from within the Form that they had found the issue with.
- The Operator will enter the necessary remarks to further describe the issue.
- The Operator will "Choose Defects Found and Need Correction"
- If no issues are found with the asset, the Operator will proceed to applying their Signature.
- if any issues are found the operator will select "Found the Following Issues"
- Click Driver Signature and use your finger to sign your name.
- Submit to save your signature.
- Click Submit on the Top-Right hand corner of the DVIR
- If issues were found, a message will appear to let the operator know that they should not be operating this asset until the issues have been fixed.
Completing a Post-Trip Inspection
- On the Top-Right of the SP eDVIR application click New DVIR
- Since a Pre-Trip DVIR has been completed, the DVIR will have defaulted to Post Trip DVIR
- The Top-Left of the page will contain the Asset that was selected.
- If the operator needs to add a trailer, the operator can type in the trailer number.
- The operator will inspect the truck
- if any issues are found the operator will select "Found the Following Issues"
- From there the operator will select the Item(s) from within the Form that they had found the issue with.
- The Operator will enter the necessary remarks to further describe the issue.
- The Operator will "Choose Defects Found and Need Correction"
- If no issues are found with the asset, the Operator will proceed to applying their Signature.
- if any issues are found the operator will select "Found the Following Issues"
- Click Driver Signature and use your finger to sign your name.
- Submit to save your signature.
- Click Submit on the Top-Right hand corner of the DVIR
- If issues were found, a message will appear to let the operator know that they should not be operating this asset until the issues have been fixed.
Mechanic Resolving an Issue
- After an operator marks an issue on the DVIR the members of the Alert List will be notified that an issue has been identified.
- The mechanic will resolve the issue with the asset.
- After physically resolving the issue with the asset the mechanic will sign in as themself to the SP eDVIR app.
- The Mechanic will follow the steps above for selecting the Asset. (In this case, they will be selecting the asset that they had just corrected the issue with)
- The Mechanic will select the DVIR with the reported Issue
- From there the Mechanic will select that the Above Defects have been corrected
- The Mechanic will receive the signature pad to sign the mechanic's name.
- Click Submit to Submit the Mechanic Signature
- Click Submit on the Top-Right of the application to submit the updated DVIR.
- Note: The Vehicle Status will not be displayed as Defects Corrected.
Applying the Verification Signature
- Once a mechanic has signed off that the issue has been corrected the DVIR will be updated with the Status od Defects Corrected.
- As soon as the Next Operator selects that vehicle the DVIR list will load and display that there was an inspection of the asset and it is currently within the Defects Corrected Status without the DVIR line being highlighted in Green.
- The Operator is going to select the DVIR where the issue had been corrected
- Click Verification Signature
- Sign their Name within the Signature field
- Submit their Signature
- Click Submit on the Top-Right hand corner of the DVIR
- Once Submitted the DVIR List will display DVIR highlighted in Green which represents that the previously reported issue has been validated.
Additional Information
- Upon a Driver completing a Pre-Trip Inspection the app will store that information within the device, so as soon as the operator opens the app the asset is already selected. This gets cleared as soon as the operator completes a post-trip, so in the morning the operator will need to select the asset they are operating again.
- Within IntelliShift, upon the operator completing a Pre-Trip Inspection, it will assign the Operator to the Asset. As soon as the operator completes a Post-Trip Inspection it will un-assign the operator from the Asset within IntelliShift.
